Yesterday, it was announced that Kobbie Mainoo will miss a few weeks of action due to a muscle injury.
Initially, Mainoo’s injury was not a major concern, and his withdrawal from the England squad before this international break was thought to be precautionary.
However, he is expected to be absent for seven games, including a huge home matchup against Chelsea at the start of November.
With Mason Mount also injured, a question mark around Manuel Ugarte, and Christian Eriksen returning from international duty, the most likely replacement for Mainoo would be Toby Collyer.
The 20-year-old has already made his Premier League debut in United’s 3-0 loss to Liverpool in September.
He also started at left back for the Red Devils, when they thrashed Barnsley 7-0 in the EFL cup.

However, Erik ten Hag has now invited some of the most exciting academy stars to join first-team training, with one man in particular looking like a potential replacement for Mainoo.
Finley McAllister steps up to first-team training to replace Kobbie Mainoo
Finley McAllister was seen training with United’s senior squad – whether he makes the matchday squad for tomorrow’s game against Brentford is currently unknown.
As the Under-18s captain, McAllister led his side to a domestic treble-winning season last term.
In this campaign, he has made five appearances in all competitions for the Under-21s.
Even if the young star doesn’t make the line-up for facing Brentford, the experience with the first team will be a brilliant learning opportunity for him.
