Manchester United will target a new centre-back, central midfielder and striker in the upcoming summer transfer window, Football Insider reports.
With the likes of Raphael Varane, Casemiro, Sofyan Amrabat, Jonny Evans, Anthony Martial and Christian Eriksen looking likely to depart, INEOS will be keen to overhaul the team’s spine.
Jarrad Branthwaite has been one of the strongest links for the centre-back position, with Football Insider saying that he is a ‘top target’ for the club.
When it comes to the midfield, another Everton player in Amadou Onana has been heavily rumoured. Standing at 6”5′ tall, the 22-year-old would be a tremendous addition to a United midfield that lacks real physicality.
The Belgian international is rumoured to cost around £50m as Everton’s financial pressures continue to mount.
The striker position is a less pressing one due to the signing of Rasmus Hojlund for around £64m last summer. It is likely that United will look for a low-cost option to rotate with the Dane.
According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee ”is a serious transfer target for Manchester United in the summer and early talks have taken place”.
The Dutchman has had a breakout season at the Italian side, registering 12 goals and 6 assists in 30 starts.
