Ruben Amorim is working towards finding his ideal starting XI for his era at Manchester United.
The current squad was assembled for a very different system from what Amorim is trying to instil in the team.
Some players are slotting into the squad perfectly, with players like Matthijs de Ligt and Rasmus Hojlund slotting into Amorim’s set-up.
Other players like Noussair Mazraoui and Alejandro Garnacho are having to adjust their playstyles slightly, becoming more central players than what they’re used to.
However, some stars just don’t feature in Amorim’s long-term plans at all.

Manchester United look to make three key sales
Already we know that Amorim is looking to sign players to both flanks and a new striker, however, there is one massive barrier to overcome.
United’s current financial pressures mean that to make any signings next year, they have to make sales, and big sales at that. As such, The Athletic has reported that Amorim has identified three key players he looks to offload next year.
Firstly, we have Joshua Zirkzee, set to depart not long after arriving. The Dutch striker arrived against Erik ten Hag’s wishes and is now set to be sold only 12 months later.
Juventus are currently the front runners to sight the striker, having used their recent trip to England for the Champions League to discuss a deal with United.
Then there’s Casemiro. Amorim is very clear that he’s looking for intensity at the club, something which when compared to Mainoo and Ugarte, Casemiro is starting to struggle with.
Whilst there are no current links with clubs looking at the Brazilian, his quality will hopefully bring in suitors. However, United did try to sell the 32-year-old this summer with no luck.
Finally is Antony, United’s £86 million signing that unfortunately has not justified the price tag. Much like Casemiro though, Antony was on the priority sale list this summer with no takers.
If United can sell the trio then they’ll hopefully be able to raise the funds to sign the likes of Geovany Quenda and Viktor Gyokeres who are currently on their target list.
