As Manchester United prepare for their mid-week fixture with Fenerbahce in the Europa League, Erik ten Hag looks prepared to take a chance on three young stars.
Following their win over Brentford this weekend, Erik ten Hag has been preparing his team for their trip to Turkey, taking on Jose Mourinho’s side on Thursday 24th October.
Unfortunately for ten Hag, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount, Toby Collyer and Dan Gore were all out injured for their recent fixture with The Bees. It’s unknown at this time if any of them will be available for Thursday.
Alongside the growing injury list, long-term absentees Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are still out of action, leaving the club without a senior left-back still.
However, Erik ten Hag has invited three of his most promising academy graduates into the first-team training from the Under-21s side.
Erik ten Hag’s trio of young stars
Ethan Wheatley, Harry Amass and Jack Kingdon have all joined the senior squad this week at Carrington being put through their paces.
It’s understood that on Wednesday 23rd October, before heading off for Turkey, the press will be invited to watch an open training session which will indicate who will be taken for the Europa League fixture.
Amass was one of the breakout stars on the pre-season tour of the United States, however has been waiting patiently to get his chance for a competitive debut.
Much like Amass, Kingdon is yet to be included in a first-team squad, although he is making strong progress. As a reward for his progress, he recently got the chance to train with Sir Jim Ratcliffe-owned FC Lausanne Sport, along with Habeeb Ogunneye and Ethan Williams also travelling to the Swiss side.
Meanwhile, Wheatley is becoming a regular on the Manchester United bench, joining the team for their fixtures against Liverpool, Southampton and Brentford.
