Manchester United could receive a significant boost when they resume their season against Nottingham Forest next week.

United secured a 3-1 victory over Leicester City in their last Premier League outing despite missing nine players through injury.

Patrick Dorgu was also unavailable due to suspension, but he is now eligible for selection again.

Key returns on the horizon

Harry Maguire was not risked against Leicester but is expected to return from a four-week layoff for the Forest clash.

Ruben Amorim is also hopeful that Kobbie Mainoo will be available after spending two months sidelined with a muscle injury.

According to Samuel Luckhurst’s report for MEN, a club source has indicated that several players’ availability will depend on how they come through training this week.

Ayden Heaven, who was seen in a protective boot after the Leicester match, is now out of it and could return to training.

Leny Yoro has missed the last two games with a foot injury, while back-up goalkeeper Tom Heaton is aiming to regain fitness in April.

Luke Shaw remains a long-term absentee but is edging closer to a return after four months out with a hamstring injury.

Amorim recently stated that Shaw is “going to be ready soon,” though no exact return date has been set.

Mason Mount made his return to the squad at Leicester after three months out.

The Englishman is expected to be available moving forward.

Manchester United also continue to face issues in goal, with Altay Bayindir out injured for nearly two months.

Andre Onana suffered an eye issue before the Leicester game but is expected to be fit for the Forest clash.

United’s unusually long 16-day gap between fixtures has allowed several players to manage their recovery.

The club had multiple players involved in international duty, but only four.

Onana, Noussair Mazraoui, Manuel Ugarte, and Victor Lindelof, were in action on Tuesday evening.

Christian Eriksen, Rasmus Hojlund, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Matthijs de Ligt, and Dorgu completed their international duties on Sunday.

Amorim has emphasised the importance of managing workloads during this break to ensure his squad is ready for the final two months of the season.
