In the world of football today, many stars have release clauses allowing for a team to initiate conversations around transfers without having to negotiate with the player’s club for their services.
Manchester United, Barcelona and Liverpool are all linked to the same Bundesliga star as reported by Marca, with his release clause running out in the coming months. If the deadline of 15th July is missed by the teams, negotiations will need to be held to agree a price, which could value well above the midfielder’s current release clause of €60 million.
Dani Olmo has been tremendous since joining RB Leipzig in 2020, so it’s no surprise he’s getting regular interest from top tier clubs, having established himself as a key player for the Leipzig squad, contributing to thirteen goals during the 2023/24 season by scoring eight goals and setting up five assists.
The consistency of his performances over the years have led to him being a well sought after player, having several interested parties last summer. Despite the interest, Olmo decided to put pen to paper and agree a contract extension until 2027, securing four more years at the club.
With their poor performance this season, Manchester United are expected to make a number of signings across the pitch to fix weak spots and create more depth in their squad to allow for any injuries that may arise, with Olmo’s versatility to play in the centre or on the wing being a key selling point to solve these issues.
United’s main competition, should they raise funds to trigger the release clause, look to be Barcelona, that being Olmo’s boyhood club, with them looking to reinforce their attack ahead of next season.
