Manchester United target Porto teenage sensation

Manchester United continue to expand their scouting reach across Europe with an increasing focus on elite youth talent.

The club’s recruitment department, now operating under a more streamlined and data-driven strategy since the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, has already begun shortlisting potential stars of the future.

With a significant rebuild expected in the summer, United are preparing to offload multiple senior players to create room for fresh faces who align with the long-term vision of the club.

Ruben Amorim’s influence, even this early into his tenure, is evident in United’s recent interest in dynamic and technically gifted youngsters from Portugal.

United scouts have been regularly attending matches in Portugal, keeping tabs on emerging talents who could grow into first-team roles over the next few years.

Now, a teenage sensation from the Primeira Liga has captured the club’s full attention.

Rodrigo Mora, the 17-year-old attacking midfielder lighting up the season for FC Porto, has reportedly landed on Manchester United’s radar.

Rodrigo Mora has played 16 league matches this season, notching up five goals and three assists, and also made five appearances in the Europa League earlier in the campaign.

Portuguese outlet O Jogo (via Sport Witness) reports that both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are circling the rising star, prompting Porto to make urgent moves to protect their prized asset.

Currently tied to a release clause of €45 million, Mora’s value could shoot up to €67.5 million if he hits a certain number of appearances before the season ends.

But Porto want to go even further.

The club is attempting to renegotiate his contract to increase his clause to between €80 million and €100 million to ward off interest from Europe’s elite.

Although United haven’t made a formal approach, Porto remain cautious and are reportedly determined not to take any chances with one of their brightest prospects.

The Red Devils could be facing a tough battle if they want to bring Mora to Old Trafford — one that might cost them big.
