Manchester United are making a push to get some new strikers into the club as soon as possible.
The recruitment team led by Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox have highlighted the position as a focus for improvement if the club wants to succeed.
The signing of Joshua Zirkzee appears to have been a failure, with the Dutch striker only getting a singular goal and two assists in 18 matches.
Zirkzee moved from Bologna for £35 million this summer to take the pressure off of Rasmus Hojlund as the only striker.
However, it turns out Erik ten Hag didn’t approve of the signing and Zirkzee arrived at Carrington a stone overweight, which didn’t help his cause.
Now under Amorim, things don’t look likely to improve, with Marcus Rashford being chosen as the starting striker in the Portuguese manager’s new system. Rasmus Hojlund was relegated to the bench in Amorim’s first game, however, made an appearance replacing Rashford in the second half.
With Juventus looking to sign Zirkzee in the summer, returning him to the Serie A, United are looking at three different replacement options for next year.

Manchester United on the search for new strikers
The trio of strikers that Manchester United have their eye on are currently lighting up some of Europe’s top leagues.
Sky Sports have reported that United are currently eyeing up Victor Boniface, Victor Osimhen and Omar Marmoush.
Omar Marmoush – Eintracht Frankfurt
Currently the second-top scorer in the Bundesliga, Marmoush has 14 goals and 10 assists in 17 games for Eintracht Frankfurt. The 25-year-old has bounced around several German teams including Wolfsburg, St. Pauli and Stuttgart before arriving at Frankfurt in 2023.
Marmoush is establishing himself as the club’s top striker, meaning United will need to fork out between £42 million and £50 million to secure him. Marmoush’s contract runs until 2027, putting Frankfurt in an extremely positive negotiation.
Victor Boniface – Bayer Levrkusen
As for Boniface, despite being contracted to Bayer Leverkusen until 2028, there’s a really strong consideration to sign the attacker. With 29 goals and 11 assists in 49 games since arriving in Leverkusen in 2023, Boniface was a key part of their unbeaten, title-winning Bundesliga campaign last season.
Similarly to Frankfurt, Leverkusen are also in a great position of power to demand a hefty fee for their star striker.
Victor Osimhen – Galatasaray (On loan from Napoli)
Finally, we have Osimhen, the Napoli striker on loan at Galatasaray. With eight goals and four assists in ten games, Osimhen has helped the Turkish side to hold their top slot in the Super Lig, whilst also sitting in third in the Europa League.
Of the three, Osimhen seems the most likely to move to Old Trafford. The striker’s contract with Napoli runs out in 2026, meaning next summer will be their last chance to sell the striker for a fee without risking losing him on a free transfer.
He currently has a £63 million release clause in his contract which comes into play as of January 2025. As a result, there are a lot of factors promoting the potential of him leaving the club next year, giving United a boost in their pursuit.
