Manchester United are once more on the hunt for quality centre-backs, as first-choice Lisandro Martinez is ruled out long-term.

The Argentine defender tore his ACL against Crystal Palace, unfortunately bringing an end to his recent run of good form, being stretchered off the pitch.

Now, Ruben Amorim is having to reconfigure his plans, with the likes of Leny Yoro and new signing Ayden Heaven on the fringe to step up and cover the position.

However, United are also looking to the summer as an opportunity to recruit another covering option with Martinez not likely to return until the end of 2025.

Already United are renewing interest in former transfer target Jean-Clear Todibo, who joined West Ham United in the summer.

However now another Premier League defender is also on The Red Devils’ radar.

Give Me Sport has now reported that United are looking to Bournemouth’s defender Dean Huijsen as another potential young defensive signing in the summer.

Huijsen joined Bournemouth from Juventus in the summer for a mere £13 million (€15.2 million) after the 19-year-old received top paise from Italian manager Max Allegri.

Speaking about Huijsen whilst at Juve, Allegri commented: “Huijsen entered the game serene and calm, he never played complicated passes and never put his teammate in difficulty. He reads the game like a great player. He does things like Ciro Ferrara.”

Since joining the Premier League, the youngster has made 21 appearances, even grabbing two goals against Tottenham and Manchester United as they beat The Red Devils 3-0 at Old Trafford.

Transfermarkt are currently valuing the youngster at £15 million (€18 million), with United seeing this as a good investment for the potential he holds.

However, it remains to be seen if United can convince The Cherries to sell their promising defender, with Bournemouth in a strong seat to negotiate given his contract is in place until 2030.
