According to a report from Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, cited by Sport Witness, Manchester United have taken significant steps towards signing Benfica midfielder Joao Neves.
The young talent has been closely associated with a move to Old Trafford as the club seeks to bolster its midfield lineup. Neves’ contract with Benfica includes a release clause reportedly exceeding £100 million.
The report also mentions that Manchester City have shown interest in the 19-year-old, though their pursuit is not as advanced as Manchester United’s.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have also been linked to Neves, with suggestions they were prepared to offer around €70 million, an amount that falls short of the release clause and would likely not suffice to secure the player.
As Manchester United continue their efforts to strengthen their squad, Neves emerges as a key target, reflecting the club’s commitment to investing in promising talent.
Despite competition from other top European clubs, United appear to be leading the race for the young midfielder’s signature.
