Manchester United fans are set to join bitter rivals in a fight against the recent rise in ticket prices.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s cost-cutting schemes keep coming as the INEOS boss tries to ease the financial pressures United are experiencing.
It was recently announced that the rise in ticket prices, removing concessions for children and over-65s was the latest change to hit the club.
This would have been controversial at the best of times but on the back of stripping back funding to the Manchester United Disabled Supporters Association (MUDSA) and ending Sir Alex Ferguson’s multi-million-pound role as the club’s global ambassador.
Fans have already hit out against the price hike, calling it “offensive” especially with there being no warning.
Fans response to the increase in Manchester United home tickets
The Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) responded to the decision with a statement damning the way the club have gone about it.
The statement read: “This means that for an adult member to take their kid to a game in the remainder of this season will cost £132. Well over double the minimum price they could pay to do it today. And this change is happening overnight, immediately,”
It continued: “The club has provided zero consultation on the matter, neither with the Forum nor the Fan Advisory Board nor MUST.
“Suffice it to say, that the idea that the fans must pay their ‘fair share’ for the club’s excesses and/or mismanagement – and above all, the Glazers’ lack of investment over two decades – is offensive.
“We fans have done everything we have been asked. We have cheered the players on even in the face of substandard performance. We have gone to matches and abided by the new usage rules for tickets. We have taken on a price increase this year.”
Now, Mike Keegan has unveiled that The Red Devils fans are not alone.
Manchester United supporters are now set to join the fans of Everton, Liverpool and Manchester City in protesting against the decisions made by both Liverpool and United.
The rallying of rival supports is a massive statement by the United fan base, which can only mean massive things are on the horizon.
