The 2024/25 Premier League season has so far been a mess for Manchester United fans to witness.
Erik ten Hag departing a squad built over £600 million, to the hands of Ruben Amorim has been a harsh task.
United must focus on smart recruitment rather than simply signing big-name players for huge fees.
Amorim’s 3-4-3 system relies heavily on balance across the flanks to function effectively.
The team urgently needs a left-footed player to bring balance and quality at the left wing-back position.

United had identified Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes as a top target for this role.
Mendes joined PSG from Sporting CP for £34 million in May 2022 after a successful loan spell.
The 22-year-old was handed his Sporting debut by Amorim in June 2020 and thrived under him.
He played a key role in helping Sporting win the Primeira Liga and the Taca da Liga in 2021.
Mendes rejected a PSG contract offer earlier this season, raising hopes of a potential move.
However, L’Équipe now reports that Mendes has decided to stay at PSG and sign a new contract.

The Portuguese international is set to extend his deal beyond 2026, ending speculation about a transfer.
PSG manager Luis Enrique reportedly convinced Mendes to stay, seeing him as key to his project.
This news is a significant blow to United’s hopes of solving their left flank issues.
United were also interested in Randal Kolo Muani, but he joined Juventus on loan until the season’s end.
Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich has also been linked, but he looks set to sign a new contract.
United’s financial situation means player sales may be needed to fund squad improvements.
Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho are two academy graduates United could consider selling.
