Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe has taken charge at Manchester United, the INEOS own has been attempting to ease the club’s financial pressure.
Unfortunately a lot of the decisions Ratcliffe has made have been highly controversial.
United legend Sir Alex Ferguson had his multi-million-pound role as global ambassador cut, the funding to the Manchester United Disabled Supporters Association has been halved, and concessions on tickets have also been cut.
Unfortunately, news has now emerged about one of Ratcliffe’s earlier cost cutting schemes, centring around the FA Cup final.

Bruno Fernandes tried to save Manchester United staff benefits for FA Cup Final
The Athletic have reported that Ratcliffe made the decision to strip the benefits of United staff when attending the FA Cup Final against Manchester City which The Red Devils ultimately won.
Previously the club have given employees a free ticket, travel, food and accommodation, however this year staff had to pay £20 for a coach trip to Wembley, only being given a free ticket.
When club captain Bruno Fernandes heard of the decision, he reportedly went to the executives and offered to cover the staff perks himself to ensure the staff and still enjoy the traditional benefits.
However, this offer was rejected by the United hierarchy who felt it would have been a bad look for the new regime at Old Trafford.
However, despite the controversy around some of decisions, with more news breaking on a weekly basis, the overall aim of them have been backed by the global investment firm UBS.
The company who run global investments including the New York Stock Exchange have projected a £800 million revenue for the club, listing its stock on the New York Stock Exchange with a “buy” status.
It’s been reported that the reason for this is vastly linked to Ratcliffe’s attention to the club’s finances, making it a strong opportunity for investors.
Whilst these decisions have been extensive over a short time period, Ratcliffe will be hoping they will be for the long-term good of the club.
