Manchester United fell to a 4-3 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, ending their Carabao Cup journey.
Ruben Amorim’s side dominated large spells but were undone by defensive errors, finding themselves 3-0 down shortly after halftime.
United mounted a spirited comeback, however.
Joshua Zirkzee and Amad Diallo came off the bench to score, reducing the deficit to 3-2.
However a bizarre goal from Son Heung-Min, scored directly from a corner, restored Tottenham’s advantage.
Jonny Evans added a late goal in stoppage time, but it wasn’t enough to complete the comeback.
Despite the result, Amad’s performance stood out particularly well.
A trait in particular that the Ivorian displayed throughout the game came to the attention of a pundit.

Amad made a significant impact in his brief time on the pitch, registering a goal and an assist.
The Ivorian now has 10 goal contributions in his last 10 appearances, despite starting three of those games on the bench.
His goal against Spurs highlighted his pressing ability, as he pounced on a mistake to score.
MUTV pundit Ben Thornley heaped praise on Amad, calling him the “best in the business” at harassing opponent players and winning the ball back.
“Amad, at the moment, is just about the best in the business at closing players down and whipping it off their toes,” Thornley said.
“Nothing was optimised more than the goal that he scored.
“The fact that he sprints and just doesn’t allow Fraiser Forster any time, and before he blinks, it’s in the back of the net.”
Amad replaced Antony, who struggled to make an impact.
His performances have made him difficult to overlook for future games.
Despite Amorim’s rotation policy, it’s becoming clear that Amad is edging closer to undroppable status.
Whether deployed as No. 10 or right wing-back, Amad has shown he can influence games.
The exciting part is that the Ivorian still has so much room to improve.
The levels that the attacker can reach are frightening – exciting times for the player and United.
