Whilst most news revolving around Manchester United’s owners and shareholders revolves around The Glazers or Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club has 140 institutional owners and shareholders of the publicly traded stock on the New York Stock Exchange. However, it’s one of United’s other owners who is now looking at branching out and looking at one of the Serie A sides.
Mario Gabelli is the owner of Gabelli Asset Management Company, or Gamco Invests, who are minority shareholders in The Red Devils.

Now, the investment company that “keep a close eye on sports investments” are looking to add to their sporting portfolio.
The group already have investments in the New York Nicks and the New York Yankees as well as Manchester United.
Now, Gamco is looking at purchasing a stake in Serie A side Monza.
Gamco look to invest in Serie A side, Monza
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Gabelli said: “It’s a very interesting project that is in the hands of a young analyst of mine who I trust, Alec Boccanfuso,”
He continued: “We don’t usually invest in private companies; we prefer those listed on the stock exchange, but in this case, we think it could be a good opportunity.
“In any case, we are talking about a project of the fund that will not see me as a protagonist in the first person.
“Let’s see how it goes; sport is important to us.
“Our fund has shares in the Knicks, Yankees, and Manchester United, and we’ve made investments with the Atlanta Braves,
“We primarily work with media companies, but with 3,500 analysts worldwide, we keep a close eye on sports investments.
“Italy is a country I love. My parents were born there, and it has a special place in my heart.
“I’m part of several Italian-American foundations and was a Grand Marshal in the 2012 Columbus Day Parade. With Gamco, we considered buying a building in Milan a few years ago to create our headquarters, but it didn’t happen. Now, we’ll see what happens with Monza.”
