Manchester United are getting a step closer to sealing the deal of one of their long-term targets.
The Red Devils have been after a left-back for some time now, with Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw having both been out with long-term injuries.
The double blow for United has left Diogo Dalot covering the left, with Harry Amass being overlooked despite the exciting potential he holds.
Now, United are looking to Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies to be the perfect left-wing-back for Amorim’s new system.

Real Madrid and Manchester United battle for Alphonso Davies
United have been monitoring Davies for some time now, seeing him as a perfect long-term replacement to Luke Shaw.
With his contract ending next summer, top clubs are circling waiting to start contract negotiations in January to lure him away as a free transfer.
United are set to have a limited transfer budget going forwards, with a priority on existing squad development. However, the chance to get Davies for free is one they won’t want to miss.
It was previously reported that United had offered the left-back a blank cheque to choose his own wage were he to move to Old Trafford.
Now, new reports from Christian Falk seem to confirm this offer, with United offering more than Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
It’s understood that Davies’ preference would be to stay with Bayern, however only if they offer the right amount, commenting: “the numbers have to be right”.
Previously it was reported that the left-back had agreed a deal to move to Real Madrid in the summer, with the paperwork signing in January the only thing left to do. However, this has since been debunked.
Despite the recent rumours, Davies’ agent has spoken out confirming that no deal is in place with any club, heating up the race for the Canadian international.
