Manchester United could be set to lose out on one of their priority Erik ten Hag replacement, with the elite manager negotiating a new position.
Although United’s executive committee have decided to stand by ten Hag this international break, doubling down on their decision to extend his contract at the start of the summer, several other top-tier managers are still being linked with the club.
Whilst ten Hag may have received a vote of confidence, this does not mean that he’s safe from scrutiny, with the club desperate to secure a fourth-place finish or higher to avoid a £10 million penalty with sponsor Adidas.
However, in siding with ten Hag, United may now have missed out on getting one of the top names on their shortlist of replacements.

The current shortlist is understood to have returning candidates from the summer, Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Gareth Southgate, with Edin Terzic also being added to the list to become the Erik ten Hag replacement.
Now though, it looks as though Thomas Tuchel may no longer be available, with the German manager in talks for another elite position.

Gareth Southgate stepped down after becoming runners-up once again in the European Championships, this time in Germany with Spain grabbing the victory in the final.
The former PSG, Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss is no stranger to silverware, having a Bundesliga title, two Ligue 1 titles, the German Cup, UEFA Supercup, French Cup and Champion League title all under his belt.
Now, the Three Lions bosses are hoping to secure the 51-year-old as their next manager, looking ahead to the 2026 World Cup held in North America.
