Manchester United set their sights on fast rising Celtic midfielder

INEOS are set to  oversee the first summer of this new era and lots of signings and departures are expected.

The midfield department in particular is still very unclear and uncertain of what the future holds as Eriksen is expected to leave and there is still no clarity on Casemiro’s future.

Naturally, the club has been linked with lots of midfielders, the latest being Celtic’s fast rising 23 year old Matt O’Riley.

The young midfielder has been having a breakout season this quite evidenced by his 13 goal return in 42 appearances. A goal every 3 games from midfield is quite the return.

His growth has not gone unnoticed as he earned his first senior Denmark call up last year and there is already sizeable hope he will make the squad for the Euros later this summer.

He would be an excellent addition to Man United’s midfield that has been lacking all season.

Fellow Dane Christian Eriksen and Casemiro both enjoyed fantastic debut seasons last but their form has since considerably regressed.

Mason Mount’s signing has done little to salve this as he has been injured virtually half the season.

Glasgow World consequently report United have now firmly set their eyes on the Danish midfielder Matt O’Riley.

“Manchester United are running the rule over Matt O’Riley as the Celtic star looks set to become centre of a summer transfer race,” the outlet claims.

The 23 year old certainly fits the bill with regard to INEOS’ idea of signing players who seem they are about to break out and fulfil their potential in the near future.

The report also suggests United have been monitoring O’Riley since 2022, and other European giants including Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid now have the young man on their radar.
