Manchester United set new asking price for Marcus Rashford

Manchester United remain likely to sell Marcus Rashford, despite his recent turnaround since leaving the club.

Rashford, 27, is currently on loan at Aston Villa, where he has made a strong impression under Unai Emery.

His form has now earned him a surprise call-up to Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad.

That has reportedly allowed United to increase their valuation ahead of a likely summer sale.

Speaking to Football Insider, former club chief scout Mick Brown explained that United were initially prepared to accept a cut-price deal for the forward.

However, they now see an opportunity to maximise their profit.

“Man United are going to demand a high fee for him,” he said.

“Their asking price has increased after he was recalled into the England squad.”

Interest in Rashford has been growing, with Aston Villa keen on a permanent deal.

European giants remain interested in Marcus Rashford

Meanwhile European giants Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also monitoring his situation.

Brown believes that Rashford’s time at Villa has benefited all parties, leading to a better financial position for United.

“I said when he went to Villa that the move would be a win-win-win situation for the three of them, and I think that has been proven already,” he added.

“Villa have benefited from his impressive performances, he’s been allowed to show what he can do.

“And now Man United can benefit from his sale.”

With United’s summer transfer plans already in motion, raising funds through Rashford’s sale would provide a major boost to Ruben Amorim’s rebuild.

“It looked like they’d have to sell him on the cheap, but his value has only gone up,” Brown continued.

“With the interest from Villa and from abroad, and a place in the England squad, it will allow them to drive up his asking price.”

United are looking to strengthen in key areas, with the club remaining interested in Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.

The former Coventry City striker is of course, a player Amorim knows well from their time in Portugal.

Gyokeres, 26, is also said to be open to a reunion with Amorim as United prepare to reshape their squad ahead of next season.
