The FA announced that Thomas Tuchel has signed as England manager on an 18-month contract.
The 51-year-old will oversee proceedings from January 1 2025, taking over from interim manager Lee Carsley.
The German was heavily linked to Manchester United prior to his agreement with England.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe had positive talks with Tuchel over the summer and was a big fan of him.
It was revealed that he was Sir Jim’s number one choice to replace Erik ten Hag if the Dutchman was sacked.

The Times have now reported that Tuchel was made aware of this by United’s board.
Although they could not reach an agreement over summer, United remained admirers of Tuchel.
He knew that would be first in line to succeed Ten Hag as permanent manager but still opted to join the Three Lions setup.
Tuchel was one of few elite managers that were available in the middle of the season and it appears that he was not willing to wait around for United.
CentreDevils exclusively revealed earlier this month that Ruud van Nistelrooy would be employed as interim manager if the axe were to fall on Ten Hag.
Therefore, if Tuchel were to join United, he would likely have to wait until the end of the season to do so.

The FA offered him £5m as England manager, which was enough for him to decline interest from United and AC Milan.
United’s board may now turn to the plethora of other options to replace Ten Hag.
However, none of them have a record as impressive as Tuchel and, importantly, it is unclear if they have want to join the club.
Julian Nagelsmann and Xabi Alonso are two big names that United are interested in, but no approaches have been made.
After missing out on Thomas Tuchel, United may have to wait until next summer to find another elite manager.
