Manchester United are becoming interested in some other Wolves squad, eyeing up a move for two of their stand-out stars.
Ruben Amorim is assembling his squad to fit his playstyle, with left-back and striker being key positions to improve.
United have been without a left back for nearly a year with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia out through injury. In their place, United have been relying on right-back Diogo Dalot to cover the role. Whilst the pair are now back in team training, with Shaw making a cameo against Ipswich, neither is a natural fit for Amorim’s style of play.
As for their strike options, United signed Joshua Zirkzee in the summer, to the disappointment of Erik ten Hag, with the Bologna striker arriving at Carrington a stone overweight. It’s understood that Zirkzee may be on his way out, returning to Italy with Juventus interested in his services.
Already Amorim looks to be converting Marcus Rashford back to his former striker role, grabbing a goal within two minutes against Ipswich. However with just him and Rasmus Hojlund, if Zirkzee does leave, United will need more options.
Now, United are looking to the Wolves pair of Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri to cover both roles.
Wolves duo are a perfect fit for Ruben Amorim’s system
Whilst TBR Football has reported on the interest in Cunha, The Sun have announced United’s continued monitoring of Ait-Nouri.
Neither are new names on United’s recruitment shortlist though. The pair were linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, with the club facing the same issues in both roles.
United face competition from Liverpool for Ait-Nouri’s signature, whilst trying to beat Spurs to the signing of Cunha.
Fortunately for United, Wolves could find themselves under pressure to sign their talented left-back, with next summer marking the final year of his contract.
Ait-Nouri has the technical ability to deliver under Amorim’s system with ten goals and ten assists in 129 games since arriving in Wolverhampton in 2021 from Angers.
Meanwhile, up top, Cunha is becoming more of a prolific striker, with 23 goals and 12 assists in 69 games since joining in 2023.
