The links between Manchester United and Viktor Gyokeres have been apparent since Ruben Amorim was appointed as United’s head coach last month.
The Portuguese manager enjoyed an incredible run of success at Sporting Lisbon, transforming the club to win five trophies in four years.
Amorim worked hard on implementing his playstyle in the team which ultimately brought success to the club.
Young players like Ousmane Diomande and Geovany Quenda have broken into the squad and are thriving, whilst their main frontman, Viktor Gyokeres has become one of the hottest strikers in the world.
Under Amorim, Gyokeres registered 66 goals and 23 assists in 68 matches, winning the Liga Portugal and the league’s Golden Boot for 2023/24.

Viktor Gyokeres and his future after Sporting Lisbon
Now, Gyokeres has “his heart set” on joining Amorim at Old Trafford, with United now having begun concrete talks with the striker.
The conversations appear to be around a move in the summer, with Amorim wanting to stay true to his word, avoiding a January raid for any Sporting stars.
United will need to hope that Sporting don’t agree to any January offers for the Sweden international, with Manchester City and PSG both looking to sign Gyokeres.
However, The Red Devils have now received a massive boost in their pursuit of the talented striker.
Reports from Footmercato have announced that Luis Enrique doesn’t see Gyokeres as part of his plans in Paris.
As such, the Ligue 1 side has now stepped away from the race for Gyokeres, leaving it between the two Manchester clubs.
