Tonight Manchester United fought off Rangers in a 2-1 victory in the Europa League.
The well-earned three points saw United rise to fourth in the league, setting them up for a place in the Semi-Finals with only FCSB still to play in the league phase of the tournament.
An own goal from Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland saw The Red Devils take the lead, with Cyriel Dessers drawing the teams equal as the game was in the final minutes.
However, the United captain, Bruno Fernandes led by example, connecting with a cross from Lisandro Martinez, giving United the lead in extra time.
However, the victory didn’t come without it’s concerns.
At half-time, Harry Maguire replaced Matthijs de Ligt, with Tyrell Malacia coming on for Leny Yoro in the 55th minute.
With the two defenders leaving the pitch being vital to Ruben Amorim’s plans of late, it’s understandable that Manchester United fans have had concerns as to why they were taken off.
Speaking after the game, Amorim confirmed the concerns were valid, commenting: “Matthijs De Ligt felt something in his leg, as did Leny Yoro. We can’t risk anything.”
Unfortunately, it’s not yet known how severe the injuries are. However, with games against Fulham and Crystal Palace in the Premier League, Leicester in the FA Cup and FCSB in the Europa League, all within the next two weeks, Amorim will be hoping that the pair won’t be side-lined for long.
