It is expected to be a busy summer at Old Trafford ahead of the incoming rebuild at the club.

One of the key areas in desperate need of a rebuild is the defensive department that has been in shambles all season.

According to Italian publication Calciomercato, Manchester United are ready to make a €50 million bid to sign Juventus defender Gleison Bremer this summer.

“The Red Devils are also willing to hand an annual salary of €10m per year (€192,000 per week) which the centre-back is unlikely ‘to say no to’,” the report reads.

United are expected to invest big in defense and it may as well be Bremer who is among the finest centre backs in the Italian top flight.

His fee has been reported to be somewhere in the range of €60m – €80m, but Calciomercato report that The Bianconeri will hold out for at least €70m, especially if they are unable to sanction any more major sales.

One problem with this is how complacent of overpaying United have been in the past with the best example being flopped winger Antony.

Shelling out €108m for an attacker who has only contributed one goal and one assist all season is a travesty.

With the quality Bremer has and with the years he has left in his prime, a deal in the region of about €50m should be just right.
