New reports from The Athletic have announced that Manchester United working on a deal to appoint Ruben Amorim as head coach.
Ruben Amorim set to succeed Erik ten Hag
United are willing to pay the £8.3 million (€10 million) release clause that’s in Amorim’s contract and are in talks with Sporting to finalise the deal.
The report explains that the Portuguese manager is open to the move, with sources close to Amorim declaring that he would be interested in the opportunity.
Amorim is one of Europe’s top young managers after a successful four-year spell with Sporting Lisbon having joined them in 2020.
Since then, Amorim has led Sporting to win two Liga Portugal titles, two Taca de Portugal (Portuguese Cup) and a Supertaca Candido de Oliveira (Portuguese Supercup).
United aren’t the only club to have been considering Amroim, with Liverpool having looked to the 39-year-old before hiring Arne Slot, and Manchester City are keen on the Portuguese manager to take over Pep Guardiola.
Now, Ben Jacobs of GiveMeSport has in fact announced that Ruben Amorim has agreed verbally to become the next manager of The Red Devils.
Recent reports have been linking Julian Nagelsmann, Xavi Hernandez and Thomas Frank to the role, however, it now appears that United have found their new man for the job.
