Manchester United are doing everything they can to secure the top young talent in the world of football right now.
Over the summer, United managed to secure 18-year-old Leny Yoro from LOSC Lille. The centre-back has been labelled a “generational talent” and was a massive statement signing with The Red Devils poaching him from under the nose of Real Madrid.
Unfortunately for the Frenchman, a broken metatarsal sustained in the pre-season tour against Arsenal means he’s yet to have his competitive debut.
Alongside Yoro, United signed James Overy and Chido Obi-Martin who have both been listed in The Guardian’s top 60 17-year-olds for 2024.

Now, United are making moves to secure an exciting prospect from the Championship who’s recently reached a milestone, setting him up with some elite company.
Manchester United look to Sunderland’s Chris Rigg
United are looking to advance their interest in Sunderland’s Chris Rigg who’s been labelled as the next Jude Bellingham.
Reports from The Express claim that The Red Devils are planning a £30 million transfer for the star in January.
Rigg has been making massive waves in the Championship, featuring in all of Sunderland’s ten matches as a key player, even grabbing two goals.
Now, the central and attacking midfielder has now joined an elite company, being one of the youngest players to make 30 appearances in the Championship.
The youngest of the list is Jude Bellingham himself for Birmingham City at 16 years and 238 days, followed by Ryan Sessegnon for Fulham at 17 years and 100 days.
Then comes Rigg, only eight days older than Sessegnon, with Connor Wickham for Ipswich Town and Gareth Bale for Southampton completing the list of the youngest five.
With the performances Rigg has been pulling off, it’s no surprise that a jump to the shining lights of the Premier League is in his near future. However, United are getting ready to battle Borussia Dortmund for Rigg’s signature, with the German giants looking to lure him to the Bundesliga.
Ultimately the decision will be with Rigg, but it is expected that he’ll be joining a new club in January.
