Manchester United must build a squad with quality across all areas to compete at the highest level.
Ruben Amorim’s side has lacked depth in key positions, making smart recruitment essential.
The club have already moved to strengthen the left flank with the signing of Patrick Dorgu.
The 20-year-old left wing-back arrives as both a short-term option and a long-term investment.
Dorgu’s arrival naturally raises questions about the future of United’s existing left-backs.
Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have both struggled with persistent injury problems.
Shaw has been United’s first-choice left-back for years but has often missed long spells.
Malacia, meanwhile, has barely played since his arrival from Feyenoord in 2022.

Now, Benfica have set their sights on the Dutch international before the transfer window closes.
That is according to a report from Record, which states that negotiations are underway.
The Portuguese side want to take Tyrell Malacia on loan until the end of the season.
With Niklas Beste set to join Freiburg, Benfica are still in search of a left-back.
At present, Alvaro Carreras is their only option in that position.
United’s priority has been securing outgoings, making a deal for Malacia more likely.

A move to Benfica would offer Malacia valuable playing time after his injury struggles.
However, United must decide if letting him go leaves them short in that area.
Amorim will need to weigh up his options before sanctioning the loan move.
United fans will be hoping that Dorgu doesn’t suffer the same fitness issues as Malacia and Shaw.
The Red Devils have been crying out for a top left-back who can stay fit for most games.
Dorgu may well be the man in the short and long-term.
