Ruben Amorim has his first game in charge of Manchester United under his belt.
His trip to Ipswich with the Red Devils resulted in a 1-1 draw after an impressive Marcus Rashford goal in under two minutes.
However, considering the club is implementing an entirely new tactic with a completely different formation, the side performed well.
Speaking after the game, Amorim commented: “We have to put in their [United players] heads the structure, then we will play so much better. We need time to do that.”
He also acknowledged the result and fan expectations, saying: “I know the fans are frustrated but there is a lot to change. We are going to suffer for a long time… some of the players only had two days.”
“It is hard for the players in three days to try to cope with everything, but we have two ways: we forget about the new idea – and I think that’s why I was brought here in the middle of the season – and we try to cope with what they are used to doing. And next year, at the same stage, we will be here with the same problems.
“Or we start now, we risk a little bit, we suffer a little bit and next year we will be better at this point. So we have to risk it a little bit.”
With Amorim’s determination and belief in his playstyle, the Portuguese manager is determined to support the current squad in his system.
However, this doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have his eye elsewhere with the winter transfer market around the corner.

Ruben Amorim targets his former star for €60m deal
Portuguese outlet A Bola have now reported that United are looking to advance their interest in Sporting winger Geovany Quenda.
The 17-year-old has been on their radar since Amorim signed to join United, however, The Red Devils are looking to secure a move.
Amorim saw real potential in Quenda, promoting him to his first squad earlier in the year, with the winger grabbing two goals and two assists from 19 games at right-wing-back.
The report explains that United are preparing a £50 million (€60 million) deal for Quenda, plus bonuses. It’s understood from the report that Sporting is open to engaging in these negotiations for the suggested fee.
However, United are being true to Amorim’s word and respect for Sporting in refusing to sign any of his former players this winter, instead targeting the Portuguese winger next summer.
One key factor in this however is that United legally cannot move for Quenda before then. With the winger being only 17 until next April, Brexit rules mean that United have to wait until after his 18th birthday before he can be signed by a UK club.
