With significant changes due to take place at Old Trafford following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s deal to buy 27.7 per cent of the club, this transfer market is already set to be extremely interesting.
Alongside this deal, many new members of staff will be changing, with Omar Berrada set to join United as the new CEO, Jason Wilcox already having joined as technical director, and still negotiating Dan Ashworth’s arrival from Newcastle.
Having such a significant change at the top, it’s expected that the same may be the case on the pitch, with Football365 reporting that United are willing to consider offers for any squad member other than Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund.
With the potential of a significant number of players leaving the squad, as well as a lack of a prolific striker in the current team with Hojlund and Marcus Rasford only scoring a combined 17 goals throughout the season.
As such, the solution to United’s problem could come in the form of Espanyol striker Joselu. Reports from Spain through Football365 claim that a ‘super offer’ is being prepared for the Spanish striker currently attached to Real Madrid, despite being on a successful loan at Espanyol.
Joselu has been on form this season for Espanyol, scoring 18 goals across 18 starts in all competitions, with another 30 appearances coming off the subs bench.
It’s no wonder that the 34-year-old is a ‘priority target’ following consistent interest from the Red Devils to provide more options up front.
It’s being reported that that Manchester United are ‘willing to make a strong investment to secure the services of the forward’. The deal in question would look to sign the forward for two years and give him a net salary of €5 million per year.
