Ruud van Nistelrooy has the support of Manchester United’s dressing room, as Ruben Amorim was appointed as their new manager on Friday.
The Dutchman has led United to a win and a draw in his two games in charge.
In his remaining games, he will see his side host PAOK in the Europa League on Thursday and Leicester in the Premier League on Sunday.
He was pivotal in the signing of Joshua Zirkzee and worked closely with United’s forwards while Erik ten Hag was manager.
Now, it has been revealed that the squad want him to stay at the club after Amorim takes over on November 11.

Sky Sports report that Ruud van Nistelrooy is favoured by many players in the dressing room.
They said: ‘there is a swell of support to keep the 48-year-old at Carrington in some capacity after his period as interim manager ends.
‘Van Nistelrooy is esteemed by United’s leadership group for the way he carries himself, along with all the staff that serve first-team operations.’
When asked about his future plans, Van Nistelrooy made it clear that he is committed to helping United grow and is content with aiding Amorim in the dugout.

‘After the Leicester game I will return to my old role [as assistant].
‘I want to continue here and be part of this club,’ he said.
‘I’m looking forward to getting to know [Amorim] better. He did very well in Portugal.
‘I’m looking forward to continuing to help the club progress, that’s my main goal.’
The former United striker would not be short of managerial opportunities if he decided to leave.
However, he has explicitly expressed his desire to help bring United back to the top of football.
