Manchester United are exploring opportunities to bolster their revenue streams through innovative post-season initiatives.
In recent years, post-season tours have become an increasingly popular trend among football clubs, enabling them to tap into lucrative markets around the globe.
Traditionally, Premier League clubs embark on pre-season tours, with United often heading to the United States to engage with their extensive fan base there.

However, the evolving financial landscape has prompted clubs to also consider post-season tours as a means to maximize revenue.
This approach aligns with the demands of financial regulations like the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules and UEFA’s Financial Fair Play standards.
For United, these measures are particularly crucial as the club navigates cost-cutting strategies under the minority ownership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Efforts to streamline the club’s operations have included the elimination of 250 staff positions, ticket price increases, and the cancellation of traditional staff events such as the annual Christmas party.
Other Premier League teams, like Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, have already embraced post-season tours, exemplified by their 2024 friendly match in Australia immediately following the Premier League season.

Reports from the New Straits Times via The Athletic indicate that Manchester United is planning a post-season trip to Malaysia in late May, potentially generating $10 million (€7.96m) in revenue.
The club is in discussions with TEG Sports, a global events company, and a local Malaysian promoter to finalize the logistics.
The proposed tour, which would commence shortly after United’s final Premier League game on May 25, offers a window of opportunity between the conclusion of domestic and European commitments and the start of international fixtures.
While Manchester United has yet to make an official statement, sources close to the club have confirmed that the plans are under serious consideration.
