It’s common knowledge that Manchester United are in the market for a defensive midfielder this summer, holding a number of negotiations this transfer window.

Throughout the summer, United’s prime target has been Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte. Whilst the negotiations have taken a long time to sort out, his move to United is some what imminent, expected in the coming days.

United were also looking at Youssouf Fofana of AS Monaco as well as Sander Berge of Burnley, however thee possibilities have been crushed with the pair moving to AC Milan and Fulham respectively.

However, news coming out of Brazil suggests that United may have found themselves a new target.

The Red Devils hold negotiations for André Trindade

Top Brazilian sports outlet, TNT Sports, have reported that Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers have both carried out negotiations with the agents of Andre Trindade.

The 23-year-old who plays for Fluminense reportedly “wants to leave” the club and isn’t ruling out a move to another league this summer. Even more support of this is that the sale of the defensive midfielder is “essential” for the club to raise funds.

Whilst the Premier League sides are showing interest in the star, there’s been no note of any formal offer being submitted at this time.

Earlier in the summer, Fulham made an offer for Trindade valuing at £21.2 million (€25 million). However, this wasn’t deemed enough by the Brazilian side who wanted £25.4 million (€30 million) plus £4.2 million (€5 million) in add-ons.
