Manchester United are now scouring the market for a new manager after sacking Erik ten Hag.
The Dutchman couldn’t turn things around to get United out of their biggest slump on record, seeing them record one win across eleven European games and sit in 14th in the Premier League.
Despite siding with ten Hag twice already in the two years he was at Old Trafford, the bard of executives notified ten Hag of their decision this morning.
Previously United’s first choice of manager was Thomas Tuchel, however since the German manager has recently taken on the England national team role, The Red Devils need to look elsewhere.
Whilst United have looked at Julian Nagelsmann, Thomas Frank and Xavi Hernandez, the current front-runner appears to be Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese manager of Sporting Lisbon has reportedly verbally agreed to join The Red Devils, with United and Sporting now working on logistics. The clubs are negotiating a compensation fee to finalise the deal, with Amorim’s release clause halved thanks to a special clause in his contract.
The clause says that for a specific seven clubs, the release clause fee will be £8.3 million instead of £16.6 million. Those clubs alongside United are Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus.
However, now a new report is emerging to say that Amorim may stall, with another manager now being added into the mix.
With Pep Guardiola’s contract coming to an end next year, with no new contract agreed, Amorim could wait for the Spaniard to leave, to then join the Citizens.
Manchester United look to Premier League manager Marco Silva
If this were to happen, the other manager now joining the contenders for the Old Trafford hot seat is Marco Silva, Fulham’s manager.
The news comes from Guillem Balague, and with Fulham currently sat in 10th place in the Premier League, the London-based club is higher up than United, having scored three more goals than The Red Devils so far this season.
Silva joined Fulham back in 2021, with a contract running until 2026 having managed other English teams like Everton, Watford and Hull City.
Back in 2021/22 Silva led Fulham to win the Championship, gaining promotion to the Premier League for the 2022/23 season.
However, this isn’t his only silverware, having won the Greek League with Olympiacos and the Portuguese Cup with Sporting Lisbon.
It’s unsure whether Silva has been approached or not, however, Amorim still certainly seems to be the favourite right now.
