South America have produced some of the world’s best footballers.
An area United have since been focusing on, under the Sir Jim Ratcliffe regime.
Diego Leon is set to join the club, as well as Christian Ordonez who has been linked to follow suit.
However, fresh links are now growing between the club and yet, another young midfielder.

United are now also interested in signing River Plate midfielder, Franco Mastantuono.
As reported by GMS, their sources reveal that United are keeping a close eye on the wonderkid.
It will be intriguing to see if the Red Devils make an offer to sign him at the end of the season.
The player has a £38 million release clause in his contract.
United have the financial resources to complete the deal.
However, it remains to be seen if they can secure his signature.
This is due to the fact that Liverpool also have their eye on the teenage sensation.
The 17-year-old has been likened to Phil Foden, possessing such technical quality between the lines.
Although the asking price is high, Mastantuono’s quality could justify the investment.
Ruben Amorim’s not pushing for a deal to be agreed anytime soon.
The manager is set to monitor his performances before making further enquiries.
United could definitely do with more quality and depth in midfield.
The 17-year-old would join as a long-term prospect, further displaying INEOS’ strategy of buying for the future.
Those close to Mastantuono expect him to become a world-class player.
United may well help him reach the potential, should the club provide a stable environment for these young players.
An exciting talent and one most definitely to keep an eye on.
