Manchester United were busy in last summer’s transfer window with one of the high profile signings being keeper Andre Onana to replace long-time serving David De Gea.
According to a report from football365, Manchester United are reportedly looking at Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro as a potential replacement for Onana.
The reports if true would be a shock after United invested a fee of around £44m just last summer to acquire his services from Italian giants Inter Milan.
Onana was coming off the back of a very impressive season especially in the Champions League protecting Inter’s defense perfectly right into the final which they eventually lost to treble winners Man City.
Onana found life in England a bit tough to begin with making mistake after mistake.
In fact one would argue he was the main reason for Manchester United’s elimination in the Champions League as barring all his errors leading to a goal in the campaign, United wouldn’t have gone out in the group stages.
As football365 cite Spanish outlet Marca, Onana has been ‘highly criticised’ as his move to Man Utd has ‘not worked’, so they are considering making a ‘change’ ahead of next season – verbatim.
The report goes ahead to mention Remiro as a possible replacement as his form has caught the eye of top European clubs.
To pry him away from the San Sebastian club, suitors would have to part with €70m, a release clause some may consider too high.
It would be a major surprise if United decide to actualize on this reported interest especially if ten Hag remains in charge on account of his fantastic relationship with current number one Andre Onana.
