Manchester United have made a big push to get their most talented youngsters out on loan to continue their development with more game time.
Striker Joe Hugill has gone to Wigan Athletic, goalkeeper Radek Vitek is with BW Linz and defender Rhys Bennett has joined Fleetwood Town.
With a number of players sold off this summer including sell-on clauses for United to benefit from future development, the Red Devils presumably see these three in the club’s future to be loaning them and keeping them on United’s books.
Now, Bennett has spoken out about his loan to Fleetwood and his excitement to get started with the club. The defender is eligible for Fleetwood’s next match against AFC Wimbledon this weekend.
Speaking to the club, the 20-year-old commented that the move was a “no brainer”.
When asked why he chose to join Fleetwood, Bennett replied: “For me, looking around on my first day, the facilities are unbelievable.”
He continued: “It’s a great club, I know a few of the lads here. They’ve got off to a good start in the league and in the cup.
“For me it was a bit of a no brainer. I need to get more experience under my belt and just ready to play for the team.”
Speaking about his experience on the United pre-season tour of the States and his relationship with the United first team, Bennett commented: “Before I went on loan previously I was in and around it [first team training] quite a lot since being about 18. So it’s all been a really good experience for me and seeing day in day out training with world class players.”
He continued: “It’s building blocks for me a coming here it’s all part of the experience and growing off other players that are around me here cause at the end of the day they’re very good players in their own respect. It’s definitely good for me.
