Manchester United are heading into something of a rebuild and reshuffle, the first of this Ratcliffe and INEOS era.

Lots of signings and departures are expected for sure and one of the positions in dire need of reinforcements is left back.

Luke Shaw has been United’s left back for the better part of the decade and there is no doubt that on his day and when fit he definitely is one of the best in the world in that position.

He has however had a spotted history with injuries and it seems the bad voodoo is back this season.

He has made only 15 appearances in all competitions this season with only 12 in the league.

His very worthy understudy last season Tyrell Malacia has not accumulated a single minute on account of a knee injury sustained last year.

Erik ten Hag has had to make do without a recognized left back most of the season having to play odd options including centre back Victor Lindelof and midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

As such, a left back is an absolute necessity come the summer.

Speaking to United in focus, transfer expert Graeme Bailey explained how he would not be surprised it United went for a move on Real Betis left back Juan Miranda.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see them linked to Juan Miranda from Betis, he is a very fascinating left-back who’s on a free who West Ham watched at the weekend and the likes of Sociedad,” he stated.

The La Masia graduate is having a fine season in La Liga and he would make an excellent addition to a very depleted left back department at United.

Still only 24, he still has a long way to go in his career and could be a fine investment.

“So I think you’ll see his name, not just for United but a few English clubs actually, I’d keep an eye on him actually,” Bailey concluded.
