A surpise report from Spanish publication Fichajes is today claiming that Manchester United are interested in a shocking move for 3 time Champions League winner Keylor Navas.
37-year-old Navas will not renew his contract and has decided to leave Paris St Germain at the end of the season.
According to the report, Manchester United are one of the teams keen on signing the Costa Rican with the other competitors being Real Betis and Juventus.
Navas is not short of experience, leadership and quality boasting an incredibly impressive CV that includes 3 consecutive Champions League medals with Real Madrid.
With 114 caps for the Costa Rica, he is the country’s 6th most capped player representing Loc Ticos since 2008.
He left Real Madrid for PSG in 2019 solidifying himself as the Parisian club’s starting goalkeeper before being relegated to second string after the arrival of Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma two years later.
If the reports and indeed true, both parties are of the understanding he would only be taking up a squad role as Onana’s understudy although his experience and leadership would be very valuable in the dressing room.
A player of that winning experience and leadership could bring that all important aura and presence in the dressing room even if he doesn’t play regularly and, on a free transfer why not?
No player could say no when Manchester United comes calling and perhaps Navas would be open to another stint in the Premier League after his brief spell with Nottingham Forest last campaign.
