Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo has been once again tipped for a return to Old Trafford.
The Ballon d’Or winner left Manchester United for the second time in November 2022 after a breakdown with Erik ten Hag.
The breakdown in the pair’s relationship came from ten Hag wanting Ronaldo to be more mobile on the pitch, especially when operating a high attacking press.
Former United coach Steve Bruce recently spoke out and supported ten Hag. Bruce was close to the situation as part of ten Hag’s team, with the coach commenting that the way the manager handled the situation couldn’t be faulted.
He also went on to comment: “He took on Ronaldo, and quite rightly. Other managers have tried to adapt. Erik didn’t feel it was necessary to do that.”
Ultimately with ten Hag not adapting to Ronaldo’s play style and Ronaldo not adapting to ten Hag’s, the pair couldn’t work together.

However, with Amorim now in post, United legends seem to think a return for Ronaldo could be on the cards.
Teddy Sheringham and Louis Saha comment on a Cristiano Ronaldo return.
Former United legend Teddy Sheringham has recently commented: “Cristiano Ronaldo would be very welcome back at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim, but he is onto bigger and better things.
He continued: “I think that Ronaldo will follow in the path of David Beckham in doing things away from coaching, higher profile things around the world.
“I’m sure he’d be very, very welcome in any capacity coming back to the club, but I doubt that he’ll be a coach.”
Now, Ronaldo’s former teammate Louis Saha has weighed in on the situation.
Speaking to Betfred, the former striker believes that Ronaldo would welcome a return to Old Trafford, commenting: “I do think Cristiano Ronaldo would love to return to the club in a role where he’s respected”.
He continued: “He left the club on somewhat bad terms, so the club’s hierarchy may not want it to happen, but the players and the fans understood what he was trying to say. People can’t say that what he was saying was wrong.
“Cristiano does have a connection with Ruben Amorim, but I don’t believe he would sign him purely because he’s his friend.
“He wouldn’t sign him just to please him, he would only do it if he believes Cristiano can help. If there was an opportunity to come back, I’m sure Cristiano would love to return and help the club because he will love the challenge.
“If he has the chance, he will come.”
