Manchester United’s struggles in front of goal this season have made signing a new striker a priority.

Rasmus Hojlund has failed to deliver consistently, scoring fewer than 10 Premier League goals with coaching staff losing faith in the forward.

Joshua Zirkzee has shown flashes of brilliance but looks more suited to playing as a shadow striker.

United’s lack of a clinical number nine has been a major issue, with goals drying up at key moments.

It has become public knowledge that United are scouring the market for a top-tier centre-forward.

Viktor Gyokeres has been widely named as a primary target due to his outstanding form for Sporting CP.

As well as his previous links with Ruben Amorim, having played under him at Sporting.

Now, The Mirror reports that United are also keeping a close eye on Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.

The Sweden international has been in sensational form, scoring 19 goals in 25 Premier League appearances.

He has also netted in the FA Cup and scored three times in the Carabao Cup, helping Newcastle lift silverware.

Isak has drawn widespread praise, with some in the media branding him “ridiculous” over the past 12 months.

His pace, movement, and finishing ability makes him an ideal target for United, who need a proven goalscorer.

Arsenal and Liverpool are also admirers, but Newcastle have no intention of letting him leave this summer.

The 25-year-old is under contract until 2028, meaning the Magpies are in a strong position to keep him.

As per The Mirror’s report, it would take an “astronomical” offer – potentially in the region of £125 million – to sign him.

That is a figure United are unlikely to afford under their current financial restrictions.

Isak would be a statement signing, but completing a deal will be anything but straightforward.
