Manchester United are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements on account of how injury-riddled the backline has been this season.

The trend has been as soon as an injured defender returns from injury, two more take his place on the injured list, with ten Hag being able to field his preferred defensive pairing of Lisandro Martínez and Raphael Varane only 3 times.

As such, United have been linked with so many defenders, especially considering the kind of summer it is expected to be.

The latest of these names has been experienced Porto left back Wendell.

This is according to Dean Jones on GiveMeSport who alleges both Man United and Arsenal are interested in the Brazilian.

If the Portuguese team is unable to come to an agreement over his future, the 30-year-old may just be placed up for sale. His contract expires next year, so Porto have now till the summer to make a decision on his future at Estádio do Dragão.

“Juve have started looking at Wendell and if Porto start to show any openness to selling him then I wonder if he could come into view for the likes of Man United and maybe even Arsenal, who saw the job he did on Saka recently. This is a player with really big experience, playing all over the world in huge competitions and at competitive teams,” Jones said.

The left back has been a key man in the Primeira Liga this season, contributing four goals and three assists in 27 games played.

Jones goes ahead to state that Wendell would be pretty cheap and considering his experience, it behoves both clubs to be very interested.

“He would be pretty cheap and from conversations I have had around United and Arsenal the mindset and wisdom of new players is going to be key because both of those sides really want players that can help elevate their younger talent,” he stated
