Bruno Fernandes has struggled to get off the mark for Manchester United this season.
He is yet to score a goal and has already been sent off twice.
In fairness, one of his red cards was overturned after a successful appeal by United.
However, as captain, Fernandes is the first player on the field that fans will point to during a difficult spell of form.
Amidst United’s worst start to a Premier League season ever, there has been speculation over Erik ten Hag’s relationship with Fernandes.

However, former United chief scout Mick Brown had denied any claims that Bruno Fernandes has tensions with the Dutchman.
Brown was interviewed by Football Insider and insisted that Fernandes’ efforts are not wavering.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if the players were getting frustrated. I don’t believe Bruno would have downed tools, though,” he said.
“People have said maybe he’s not playing for the manager, but that’s not what I’m hearing, and I haven’t heard anything about a disagreement between them.”
“He hasn’t been in his best form at the start of the season, that’s for sure, but it’s not through a lack of effort,” Brown argued.
Fernandes has only missed three games due to injury in almost five years playing for the Red Devils.

There has been much drama surrounding the Portuguese star, especially since he became United’s captain.
For example, in an embarrassing 7-0 defeat to Liverpool in 2023, Gary Neville accused Fernandes of asking to substituted.
This allegation was largely conjectural and there was no strong evidence to prove it.
After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s last game as manager, Fernandes publicly supported the Norweigan.
There is a famous video of him signalling to United’s away fans to blame the players, rather than Solskjaer, after a 4-1 defeat to Watford.
Likewise, Fernandes has showed nothing but support for Ten Hag.
It is uncertain if Ten Hag will remain as United’s manager until the end of the season.
However, if there is one predictable outcome for United this season, it is that Fernandes will behave as a stellar professional, whoever the manager is.
