So far this transfer window, a whole host of exciting prospects are being linked as targets of INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe to bring to Old Trafford.
This summer is going to mark a huge rebuild for the club, both on and of the pitch with new Chief Executive Officer Omar Berrada joining the club, and no decision made still around Erik ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford.
On the pitch, ex-Golden Boy Award winner Anthony Martial and veteran of the game Raphael Varane have both said goodbye to the team, with key squad members Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes reported as big money targets to move to Saudi Arabia.
It’s now being reported that one of United’s long term targets is now being made a key priority to bolster the squad next season.
GIVEMESPORT are reporting that United are looking more seriously at Danish international, Morten Hjulmand.
The 24-year-old arrived at Sporting Lisbon from Lecce last summer for €19.5 million and has had one hell of a season.
With 49 appearances for the Portuguese club, Hjulmand has supported the team to winning the Liga Portugal, as well as successful runs in the Taca De Portugal, or Portuguese Cup, where they were beaten by Porto 2-1 in extra time, and to the round of 16 in the Europa League.
Managing to grab four goals and four assists, the defensive midfielder has impressed enough to be called up to the Danish squad for the upcoming European Championships in Germany his summer, where no doubts he’ll be making even more of a name for himself.
Already United are up against Barcelona for the youngsters signature valued at £69 million, and will his contract lasting until 2028 and youth on his side, it’s unexpected that Sporting will let him move from the Portuguese capital for anything less than this.
With Hjulmand becoming such a high priority for the Red Devils, it really does set the stage for a more youthful squad stepping onto the pitch at Old Trafford next season.
