Manchester United are looking to strengthen their side this summer to bounce back from a run of two consecutive poor seasons.
The Red Devils have struggled to get out of the bottom half of the Premier League this season, currently sat in 13th place, with the Europa League their only chance to secure European football for next year.
With Ruben Amorim now at the helm, United’s recruitment team are scouring Europe for top young talent to not only make an impact now, but to also provide security at Old Trafford for the years to come.
So far this season The Red Devils have signed Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven and Patrick Dorgu for exactly this reason.
Now, the club are looking to another young centre-back, however face competition from another Premier League side.

Manchester United face competition for Yusuf Akcicek
Turkish outlet Sabah has reported that Manchester United are now facing competition from Aston Villa in their pursuit of Fenerbahce defender Yusuf Akcicek.
The 19-year-old has broken into the senior squad since the start of 2025, making 15 appearances so far, scoring two goals and grabbing an assists.
Akcicek contributed to both legs on Fenerbahce’s Europa League knock-out games with RSC Anderlecht, assisting Dusan Tadic in the first leg, before grabbing a goal himself in the second fixture.
Now, Villa and United are joined by Bayern Munich in looking to the centre-back, however with his contract in place until 2028,Fenerbahce are in a strong position for negotiations.
It’s understood that Jose Mourinho’s side value the star at around £17 million, making him a relatively cheap investment for United, however it’s not yet known to what level United have declared interest or if an offer has been tabled.
