Manchester United’s ongoing rebuild under Ruben Amorim has seen the club target several key areas for improvement.
One of the positions reportedly under review is that of the goalkeeper, where Andre Onana has faced scrutiny for inconsistent performances since his arrival.
The Red Devils currently have Altay Bayindir and veteran Tom Heaton as back-up options.
However, neither has proven to be a viable challenger for the number one jersey.

Amorim’s tenure has been defined by a strategic shift, focusing on building a balanced squad capable of competing at the highest level in the Premier League and Europe.
The emphasis on goalkeeping reflects a broader trend among top Premier League clubs, where the primary focus is on securing one standout goalkeeper rather than maintaining fierce internal competition for the spot.
Other clubs, such as Liverpool with Alisson Becker and Everton with Jordan Pickford, have followed this approach, ensuring stability between the posts.

Meanwhile, United’s pursuit seems to deviate from the league’s norms.
Amorim and the club appear to favor fostering competition within the squad, a move designed to push players like Onana to their best.
Alan Nixon reports via SportsView, that United are now linked with Botafogo’s Brazilian shot-stopper, John Victor.
Known for his impressive performances in the Brazilian league, Victor was instrumental in Botafogo’s success, helping them secure both the Brazilian title and the Copa Libertadores.
Victor, who has been described as the “best player in the country,” is valued at £20 million.
Alan Nixon has revealed that the Red Devils are closely monitoring the 28-year-old, though it remains unclear if they intend to make their move in January or during the summer.
Victor could provide the much-needed competition for Onana, aligning with Amorim’s vision of creating a highly competitive and robust Manchester United squad.
