Catalan giants Barcelona are struggling to recover from an economic mess from the days of former president Josep Bartomeu and as such, need to raise €100 million to balance their books.

On that note, some high profile departures are expected to aid in raising revenue and as Spanish publication AS reports, defensive stalwart Ronald Araujo could be among said high profile exits.

As page 17 of the report cites, Araujo who is greatly admired by both Man United and Bayern Munich could as well be on his way out with both clubs reportedly willing to increase his salary handsomely.

Manchester United have been in defensive disarray all season conceding goals left, right and centre and could do with a defender of Araujo’s quality and potential.

Manchester United’s central defense department is in a cloud of doubt for next season with no clarity of most of the senior center backs’futures.

Raphael Varane who is arguably the club’s best defender will be out of contract in June and there are no reports of talks for an extension.

The Red Devils had accepted West Ham’s bid for Englishman Harry Maguire last summer and there is a chance they may again be willing to let go of him despite his upturn in form this season.

Lisandro Martinez who’s future is the only one guaranteed has been heavily struggling with injuries all season.

Erik ten Hag could desperately do with a defensive monster like Araujo.

The Uruguayan is an absolute physical specimen but that doesn’t stop him from being incredibly fast and good with the ball at his feet.

Still only 25, he’s already established himself as one of the best defenders in the world and he is still yet to fully reach his potential.

Should he be available, there is no reason Man United shouldn’t go for him seeking a deal in the region of around €50m.

His salary is currently a mere €134,000 and United should have no problem bettering that
