Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui is expected to be out of action for a few weeks after undergoing a minor heart procedure.
Mazraoui joined United from Bayern Munich in a deal worth an initial €15m underwent the procedure after experiencing heart palpitations.
He was substituted at half-time of United’s goalless draw with Aston Villa last weekend and was replaced by Victor Lindelof.
According to reports in the British media, Mazraoui is expected to be out for some weeks.
A Manchester United source said: “This is a relatively common condition and Noussair is expected to make a full recovery and be available for selection within the next few weeks.”
Club sources also confirmed that there was no emergency situation, and the minor corrective procedure for a relatively normal condition was a success.
He now joins the likes of Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Mazraoui, and Leny Yoro on the injury list.
Mazraoui had to take time away from football to deal with inflammation of heart tissue in January 2023 after suffering from Covid-19.
He has started all seven of Manchester United’s Premier League games this season, making 10 appearances across all competitions.
Mazraoui’s injury is a major blow for Ten Hag as he battles to get the team back to winning ways after a winless run in their last five matches.
The Red Devils have won just twice in seven Premier League games this season while also losing two Europa League matches this season to put the Dutch manager under pressure.
