Manchester United are looking to beat Arsenal to one of their key targets after the young defender has shone at the European Championships in Germany.

The two Premier League clubs are going head to head for the services of Ferdi Kadioglu who has been delivering some strong performances for Turkey at Euro 2024.

Reports from NowArsenal have said that despite The Gunners being the first off the mark, submitting an offer of £18 million for the left-back back in June, United may be in with a chance to catch up in the race for the Turkish defender’s services.

According to the Turkish media, Kadlioglu has stalled on any transfer conversations for the time being to focus on Turkey’s campaign at the Euros, with the 24-year-old being a key member of the squad that got through to the Quarter Finals.

Now that Turkey’s cup run has come to an end at the hands of the Netherlands, transfer talks can start up again and the battle for his signature can start up again.

Arsenal aren’t the only club to have submitted bids though, with United also having to fend off Borussia Dortmund, meaning the Red Devils will need to act fast to get into a position to be competitive with the other two European greats.

It’s understood that whilst Dortmund have submitted an offer, they may not be a major threat to United’s plans, with Kadioglu preferring a move to the Premier League, setting the stage for the two English clubs to go head-to-head.

Fenerbahce’s sporting director, Mario Branco, has come out to explain their willingness to sell the versatile left-back, saying: “We managed to attract one of the biggest names in world football, the only coach in the world to have won all three European competitions. We know what profiles the coach wants. Thanks to our club president, we are in a position to attack the transfer market how Jose Mourinho requires.”

This statement seemingly suggests that Kadioglu is not a part of Jose Mourinho‘s plans going forwards, leaving Arsenal and United free to battle it out for the 24-year-old’s signature.
