So far this transfer window it’s common knowledge that United have been in the market for a quality centre-back.
It’s been previously reported that Everton’s Jarrod Branthwaite, OGC Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo and Juventus’ Gleison Bremer have been the top three target’s for the position.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has set out a new policy whereby the club are aiming to recruit young players under the age of 25 with heaps of potential. The aim of this strategy is to build a team that can get back to the glory days of United with long term success, with Branthwaite and Todibo having the youth on their side whilst delivering truly impressive performances.
Previously Jean-Clair Todibo has appeared to be the most likely to join Old Trafford, with the Frenchman confirming talks have taken place with the Red Devils about a potential move.
However it appears that one of United’s other targets is as good as signed with personal terms being agreed.
Now The Times have reported that United have agreed terms with their top target Jarrad Branthwaite.
It’s reported previously that Everton need to sell on one of their main assets by the end of June in order to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
With this in mind, it’s no surprise that the Toffees are still holding out for £70 million for the defender to help with their financial issues, although no set figure has been agreed as of yet.
Personal terms with the star centre-back have been agreed with Brathwaite set to earn between £150,000 and £160,000 per week when he joins United.
Despite no fee being agreed as of yet, personal terms for the player is a massive step forward in getting the Englishman to Old Trafford.
