Manchester United have just agreed a deal to sign a highly sought after Mali midfielder.
A month ago it was reported that United joined both Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers is scouting the teenager who had a phenomenal showing at the World Cup.
18-year-old Sekou Kone generated a lot of interest during his performances in the Under-17s World Cup this winter, held in Indonesia. The African side managed to grab a third place finish in the tournament after being defeated 2-1 by France in the Semi-Finals, but beating Argentina 3-0 with Kone grabbing an assist in the Third Place Play-off.
Across the seven games, Kone managed to grab two assists, with the other coming in Mali’s 5-1 defeat of Canada in the Group Stages which secured their second place finish.
This showing from the 18-year-old has highlighted the potential star that he can become with the right development.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed United have agreed to sign the midfielder from his home team of Guidars.
With United trying to turn the club into the best centre of youth development in football, with signings like Chido Obi-Martin and Samuel Lusale, it’s no surprise that the Red Devils have fought to sign Kone.
It was previously understood that the Mali international had been offered a deal with RedBull Salzburg, however United have obviously made a more attractive offer for the youngster.
It’s understood that he’s part of long term plans similar to Chido Obi-Martin, to secure future success at Old Trafford with the upcoming class of Red Devils.
